Welcome

Welcome to GCCM! We are a mission station serving the communities of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Our Parish started out by joining together the seven United Methodist Churches of Grand Marais, McMillian, Germfask, Engadine, Hulbert, Newberry, and Paradise. Since then we have expanded and now are happy to host mission teams from all over Michigan and beyond to assist in sharing God's love all summer long. As we share God's love with a variety of outreach ministries in our seven communities we invite you to join us.

Only fear the LORD, and serve him in truth with all your heart; for consider how great things he hath done for you.

       Our History

The formation of the Parish came out of necessity in the 1960s and 1970s as there were 2 pastors for the 7 churches covering five counties. With seeds for the Parish planted by Pastor Audrey Dunlap, Rev. Ralph Edwards, District Superintendent John Grenfell Jr., and Field Worker Rev. John Huhtala, and through many meetings, the idea began to grow. After meeting with the churches and years of discussions all churches gave their approval in September of 1980. After a vote for the name of the Parish judges decided on "God's Country Cooperative Parish" in 1983. The Parish developed and had a birthday, name, purpose statement, newsletter, an Advisory Committee, a Church and Community Worker, and a Parish Director by the end of 1985 making the Parish a reality. In 2024 we changed our name to God's Country Community Ministries. We have grown and we are our own entity and we are involved with all denominations while our mission stays the same. Our new name God's Country Community Ministries and our office has moved to the Dunlap Center at 6545 S. M-123 Newberry MI 49868. As we continue to grow  we will expand in many ways with the help of our missions teams and our gracious donors.

Thank you.
